Information on his lineage:
On his dam's side:
Delgado, performance tested at the Celle State stud in Germany, was specifically selected to further the warmblood breeding in South Africa. His lines include some of the oldest and most successful German stalions. Delgado has sired many A grade horses in SA, and he himself jumped up to B Grade however he had to retire due to an injury.
Anschluss by Absatz (Voigtskirch Stud) producing International A grades such as Voigtland Astor and Voigtskirch Maestro, who won the SA Eventing Championships six times!!
On his sire's side:
Cynric's sire, Calido l, came fourth out of 53 in his group with a score of 129.05, but he was first in the jumping standings with 140.40 and 9th in the dressage rankings on 114.30. His jumping scores included a score of 10. In 1996 he won 22 showjumping classes up to intermediate level. Calido was the standout sire in the jumping at the 2004 Bundeschampionate, siring the winner of the Five year old jumping championship, Coster and the reserve champion, Clintwood with a third representative, Celine making it through to the final.
Calido’s dam, Baroness, is by Coriander, who despite his jumping breeding made something of a name for himself as a dressage horse with Wolfgang Schade. This is not entirely unexpected since his grand-sire, Calypso II although primarily a jumper also produced horses with great rideability. Baroness is also the dam of the licensed stallion Black Incipit (an advanced showjumper) as well as the intermediate jumper, Cantango. Through his sire, Cantus, Calido also carries the refining blood of the great Thoroughbred sire, Cottage Son through his son, Consul. There is further refinement on Calido’s dam line with the blood of the Thoroughbred, Anblick, through his son Aldato, who was the first stallion in Holstein to open up the possibility of breeding world class eventers.
Right from the start, Calido I was a success at stud, and was almost immediately awarded the highest FN breeding ranking. His eldest progeny are already internationally successful including.
In the 2010, Hanoverian Stallion book, Calido is recorded with progeny earnings of €1,781,278, with 708 progeny competing in jumping, with 168 at advanced levels. He has an FN jumping index of 150 and a dressage ranking of 112. On the basis of the Hanoverian mare and auction tests, he has a dressage score of 109 and a jumping rank of 163 which puts him 4th on the Hanoverian jumping standings.
Cantus was for 15 years one of the most successful showjumping sires – with horses like Come On, Calvaro with Willi Melliger. The horses by Cantus were very powerful and easy to ride, sometimes not the prettiest horses, but very willing to perform.
Caletto I appears in 65th place on the 2006 Monneron rankings. Cantus was a very tall stallion with enormous presence. Very sharp jumper and a very good mover. Cantus sired many international jumpers including Calvaro. Cantus had 28 licensed sons.
Cor de la Bryère is the stallion that revolutionised jumping horse breeding. His name is the one astute breeders like to see. Although best known as a sire of jumping horses, Cor de la Bryère was also the sire of Corlandus, a World Cup Dressage Champion in 1989, and his sons Calypso I and Calypso II have proven useful sires of dressage horses. Former German Olympic team member, Chacomo ridden by Alexandra Simons de Ridder was by Calypso I, as was Alexandra’s other FEI star, Champus. In the WBFSH ratings for 1992/2001, Cor de la Bryère is ranked 18th with 28 points earning progeny
Ahorn Z competed internationally as did his licensed sons Acord I, Amaro, Antares and Aar. His successful progeny include Lord Arico, Acapulco and Dobel’s Gettina.
Esprit de Conquette, the sire of Nelson van de Helle, is out of one of the best Selle Francais dam-lines. He is the full brother to the International stallion, Calypso d’Herbriers, winner of the French Derby with Herve Godignon. Lafayette (Michel Robert’s Olympic horse) is a full brother to Niobe d’Orvault, (dam of Esprit de Conquette). During his short breeding career in Belgium, Esprit de Conquette produced top class showjumpers like Marmot v/d Helle; Vainqueur v/d Veldkruis; Manado D (Gareth Neill) and Nelson v/d Helle’s full brother, the approved SBS stallion, Master van de Helle (very successful in the 1.50m classes with Nils Candon).
Delphine de Beine, the dam of Nelson, is by Galoubet A, (sire of super stars such as Baloubet du Rouet; Quick Star; Quiniou and Credo de Paulstra) out of a proven dam-line, that produced International horses like Gin Tonic Star (3/4 brother to the dam of Nelson) - sold to Thomas Velin, the owner of Quidam de Revel, for an astronomical amount; the stallion Desir du Chateau and the International Grand Prix winner,Itot du Chatteau (Michel Hecart) are all from the same dam-line as Nelson van de Helle
Galoubet A is currently ranked 67th on the WBFSH rankings of show jumping. He is also the sire of Baloubet du Rouet who is ranked 1st, and Quick star who is ranked 4th! Calido 1 is ranked 82nd. Ahorn is number 90. Nelson v/d Helle himself is also a Grand Prix show jumper.
